On March 26, 2010, Kennedy King College in Chicago, Illinois, will present an exceptional continuing legal education program. Beginning in March, 2010, The Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education is serializing Steve's most recent update of "Mortgagors in Distress - Representing Defendants in Residential Foreclosure". The the First of Five Parts covers an Introduction, a Practical Approach for practicing attorneys, and the Client Interview. The Second Part will cover Defenses such as Reinstatement, analyzing the Pleadings, Standing (a 'hot topic'), Circumstances of the Loan and Default, and Discovery. The Third Part will present Alternatives to Foreclosure (Deed in Lieu, Consent Judgments, Short Sales and Modifications). The Fourth Part, entitled "Tricks of the Trade - Some cases of Note" will discuss Late Charges, Foreclosure Expenses and Attorneys Fees, Jurisdiction, Prove-up and Summary Judgment. The Fifth Part will cover Redemptions, Confirmation of Sales and Possession, and Third Party Bidder issues.
