On March 26, 2010, Kennedy King College in Chicago, Illinois, will present an exceptional continuing legal education program. Presented by national experts in the field, lawyers will learn how to handle foreclosures and learn the secrets of helping clients save properties and manage distressed residential and commercial assets. Steve Bashaw will join a panel of real estate, foreclosure and mortgage experts including Anthony L. Frink, Esq., Nina J. Fain, Esq and Frank Keldermans, Esq. to present "REBUILDING NEIGHBORHOODS: MANAGING FORECLOSURES AND DISTRESSED REAL ESTATE ASSETS".

Beginning in March, 2010, The Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education is serializing Steve's most recent update of "Mortgagors in Distress - Representing Defendants in Residential Foreclosure". The the First of Five Parts covers an Introduction, a Practical Approach for practicing attorneys, and the Client Interview. The Second Part will cover Defenses such as Reinstatement, analyzing the Pleadings, Standing (a 'hot topic'), Circumstances of the Loan and Default, and Discovery. The Third Part will present Alternatives to Foreclosure (Deed in Lieu, Consent Judgments, Short Sales and Modifications). The Fourth Part, entitled "Tricks of the Trade - Some cases of Note" will discuss Late Charges, Foreclosure Expenses and Attorneys Fees, Jurisdiction, Prove-up and Summary Judgment. The Fifth Part will cover Redemptions, Confirmation of Sales and Possession, and Third Party Bidder issues.
