9, 2012:
Steve Bashaw participated in the taping of a panel discussion for the Illinois State Bar Association on "Responding to Foreclosure" on January 9, 2011. The half-hour program will be televised twice in March, 2012, as part of the ISBA public service program "Illinois Law", which airs every Tuesday at 10:00pm CST on Cable Access Channel 21 in the Chicago Area. Steve's discussion on the panel with his colleagues, Erica Minchella and Samuel Levine, attorneys who concentrate and routinely handle mortgage foreclosure cases, focused the foreclosure process, responding to a default, short sales, loan modifications and the timing of the foreclosure
process.

21, 2011: Steve presented the Annual Real Estate Case Law Update as part of the ISBA Real Estate Section Counsel continuing education program at the
Marriott Hotel and Conference Center in Bloomington, Illinois.

2011:
Steve authored an article that
was published in the
October 2011 Illinois Bar Journal on the topic of the continuing mortgage foreclosure crisis and its
impact on members of the military on active
duty.
June
17, 2011: Steve was honored by the Illinois State Bar Association at its Annual Meeting Awards Luncheon in Fontana, Wisconsin as a "Lawyer who Cares about Military Families" for his pro bono work in defending active military duty servicemembers in mortgage foreclosure cases.".
April
and May 2011: Steve appeared
on two mortgage foreclosure programs that aired in April and May
2011. "Mortgage Foreclosures: The Early Stages" and
"Mortgage Foreclosures: Litigation Process", two
half-hour programs presented by Illinois Law, a cable production
of the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA), aired on Chicago
Access Network Television. These programs are available

March
2011,
Steve was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Mortgage Foreclosure Defense Lawyers Association in February, and will present the "Nuts and Bolts of Mortgage Foreclosure" at the Association's continuing education meeting on March 28, 2011.
March 2, 2011,
Steve addressed the Consumer Law Committee of the Chicago Bar Association on the topics of his articles on mortgage
foreclosures that appeared in the Illinois Bar Journal.
February 5, 2011,
Steve was honored by the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, Motorcycle Rider Safety Program for reaching a milestone: Over the 2010 season, Steve officially trained his 500th Student in the Basic Rider and Experienced Rider Motorcycle Safety Courses.
In January, 2011,
Steve was recognized as part of Illinois State Bar Association President, Mark D. Hassakis', "ISBA Lawyers Care" program. The purpose of the program is to recognize ways in which lawyers, and particularly ISBA members, have made a difference in their local communities. Steve was recognized for his role in helping and representing military members and their families involved in mortgage foreclosure while engaged in active military duty on a court-appointed and pro bono basis as an example of the contributions lawyers make to their communities.
January 2011: Steve's article, "Distressed Homeowners Need Lawyers, Not
Legislation", appeared in the January, 2011 Illinois Bar Journal, reviewing legislative initiatives aimed at dealing with "standing" and "robo-signing" issues in mortgage foreclosure proceedings and heralding a call for attorneys to assist their homeowner neighbors in foreclosure litigation and mediation programs.
